extended crank

I have an 88 GXL, and whenever i start it in the morning it has a very long extended crank. When it finally starts though, i have to give it gas for about five minutes or it will die. if anyone could help with this problem it would be much appreciated. thanks

Battery voltage? Check for vacuum leaks? Is the BAC functioning properly (doesn't sound like it is)? Compression check?

I think you've got more than one problem so prepare yourself to do some fixing.

I second compression check. My car starts just fine without a BAC. Not that I'm against checking it... just saying.

I hear ya. I'm just thinking that the BAC may be causing the problem of stalling after it starts. He mentioned having "to give it gas for five minutes or it will die." That's symptomatic of BAC troubles.

I have to do that too until my car warms up. But, I don't have a BAC, so I guess the BAC is what makes it not stall in that time? Why did I have to remove that thing...
