exhaust gasket question

okay, so i used the new "improved" search feature (sorry, but im not all that impressed) and returned very little results.
basically, the gasket from the exh. manifold to the turbo. (S4) keeps blowing up. ive replaced it once. i had the Atkins metal one on it for a while, then that blew the side out, and i put the pineapple graphite one on, wich didnt hold up well at all. it just went out on friday.
so, at the 7 meet this weekend, i asked around, and everyone said to make my own gasket out of copper. well, in the search i did, most people said the copper would melt. so, my question is. what do i do? i dont want to spend another 50 bucks on a gasket that will blow out again in a month or 2...but i dont want a cheap copper gasket that will melt... does any one know of some super-high performance stock turbo gaskets? maybe titanium?
what do i do?

Are any of the nuts holding the turbo to the manifold loose when you remove it? That's the most common cause of blowing gaskets.

well, the first time they were loose. but this time they are not, as i put lock washers underneath them...but that is a good point, i hadnt thought of that, either.
they are supposed to have lock washers underneith them, arent they?

Yes lockwashers or something equivilant are a must imo. Make sure the manifold surface that bolts to the turbo ( were the gasket you are refering to is placed ) has not warped. It is common for manifolds to warp if nuts have come loose during operation.

If by chance this is your problem do not take it to a muffler shop to have it resurfaced on a belt sander it is a waste of time and money! Spend some extra money and have it machined. I learned the hard way!!
