ever feel like giving up on fc's?
The only reason I ever think about is selling my N/A to get a TII. But then I think about all the work I have put into my N/A, and I don't really want the problems of somebody's beat TII. My car does have its share of gremlins though, other than its running condition. Things like messed up power windows, broken moonroof, ripped driver seat, the clock doesnt always work, needs the wiper switch fix, all make me consider selling it, but it starts up perfect and goes like hell when I want it to. Besides, its my baby, the first car I ever bought myself. I will probably still be driving it when I am 50.

NOOOOO!O!!!!!
brothers and sisters i emplore you, DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR FC'S, i was once the proud owner of an 88 gxl. i got rid of her because of a couple of minor problems. i have missed her dearly since, and have been searching for a suitable replacement. alas i have found none, this is my hell. cursed to live without the comfortable confines of my own 7. PLEASE take care of them.
Since my TII has almost new parts for everything, I'm not giving up on it for a long long time.
Plus, to get that kind of performance out of a new 'sports car' I'd have to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

After seeing the Mazdaspeed RX-8 I'm kinda itching to get one, and well, I don't need three cars so the FC would have to go. =/
But I haven't driven it for a week, so I'm sure if I go for a drive at lunch today I'll change my mind. =)

I've got a 90GTU that I've though serveral times to sell. I still need to get a better tranny put in and give her a mjaor tune up, some body panels, some interior items, but overall I've never had a prob with the engine cept for the idle but I do't really count that as everyone seems to have it as well. but I just can't part with my baby. I love her to much plus meeting the ppl with Rx7s themselves and knowing how great this family is, is another reason I won't part with her.
mechanically, NA's are pretty easy to diagnose if they are running a little funny. All those lil gremlins that can plague FC's (headlight switch, wiper switch, logicon) are easily and in-expensively fixed with the help of these forums thanks to peoples know-how and the fact that MANY people have parts cars or know where to locate good used parts. I know a great guy in MI who's helped me solve all my problems over the past year...even with little things like replacing a cracked interior piece, he rules. RX74UNME@webtv.net he's a good guy, his parts are clean and they work...and it's cheap
definintly...I'm selling mine and my explorer to get an integra. I've driven an integra and love the way it drives....nothing near an fc mind you...but after I fix some little thing some other little thing breaks. I fix the driver side wiper then the passenger side one lets go. i fix my lights and 3 days after they stop going down again. rear wiper works sometimes when I don't need it but rarely when I do. Car rattles like a bitch even with just a little bass from the sound system. I have a coolant leak that everytime I do something to fix just starts somewhere's else. Plus it goes through oil like crazy which i knew it would since oil is mixed with the gas isnt it?? well anyways I'll get a T2 once I have enough money to enjoy it. Till then I'll move on to the slower and simlper integra i dread those days but hey it'll be simple as heck to fix and still as more potential than a civic

Sounds like some of you have garage queens.
My 7 has been phenomenally reliable, especially given some of the crying that I hear from other owners.
Parts don't break on my 7. They wear out. And I don't pussyfoot when I drive - I'm hard on her.
I'd never sell this car.

I have thought about getting rid of mine to get a 2nd gen Eclipse GSX.Mainly 'cause I'd like to have a turbo charged AWD car,but I just can't part with her.If I had something else to drive I might sell it and use the money to fix the '89 TII I have. All it needs is a motor, ecu, paint, and a nice set of wheels and tires.Still would be hard to part with my GTUs.I think I will try to always have a rotary powered car in my possesion.
Havent you guys seen the fact that most FC owners fall in love wirh their cars? Oh and the fact that our cars are 14+ years old now and they are going to have a little wear and tear. I mean even with all the problems we can or do potentially have with our cars theres always that feeling of love for the car that doesent let us give up on em.
Weather it was your first car or your 5th car FC's will obsess you and make you want more. There so fun to drive and exilirating that i can understand why.
I have a 88 GXL that has all kinds of problems plus got hit by a truck. It doesent have insurance so i cant drive it right now but **** i have a hard time letting her go cuz of all the good times ive had in it. I keep telling myself yeah ill fix her up and get her running again. But i have 3 cars right now and no money so i cant do that right now
Dont get rid of your cars guys youll regret it later, unless of corse youve found better things in life to fall in love with

There are times I've been very frustrated with my FC, but I don't think I've ever felt like giving up on it to get something else. Now that I've had the car for three and a half years, I can't imagine driving anything else. Nothing gives the same feel as driving the FC and other RX-7s in general.
I think I'm a Rotorholic. Not that that's a bad thing.
Like the above poster stated, we seem to fall in love with our cars. I think that's true for most enthusiasts. Some stay loyal to a certain type, some to certain cars, some to brands, and some to nationalities (think of all the British car nuts out there). That's just what makes auto enthusiasts a bunch of cool people.

Never Never Never...........get it!!!!
While I was stationed in Japan I owned a 79 RX7 that I had to leave behind due to the cost of getting it ready to be street legal in the states. It was a 12A, but I had a Toda clutch and flywheel, Spiral racing exhaust, Weber 45 IDA carbs (downdraft), Recaro seat, killer, and I mean killer Pioneer sound system, Volk light weight rims, Koni shocks, etc........( I'm going to cry)
I purchased a 87 RX7 May 2nd of last year. The son of my secretary had just drove it from California (never been in snow) and wanted to sell it. I bought it that same day for a grand. I have purchased some products to enhance the performance, as well as the appearance. The only way I will give up this RX7 is when they can pry it from my dead cold fingers. I am now 43 year old and just love it when people turn their heads as they hear this chain saw like sound coming from a distance and gradually getting louder. I love this thing....the feel of smooth power as I press the accelerator from such a unique power plant. People asking me.....what is that, a Porsche. I could afford to get a new shiny ricer, but why would I do that? Once you go 7, you never go back.........Hahahahahahaha
It will live as long as I do!!!!!!

Never, my fc's have never given me trouble that was more than a small nucence.
Had to clean the power window switches.
take care of an ageing top.
replace a starter.
replace a blown radiator hose.
Thats pretty good for the more than 2 and a half years and 34,000 miles ive had her for. I love my 88 vert!

I'm over it. It's going on autotrader. I don't care anymore i am so pissed right now. Everytime i get it fixed it literally breaks again the NEXT day. New TPS yesterday, now Mass air flow sensor is fucked and the car won't run. I thought it was bad when the idle was messed up and the U joint was broken last week. At least it would make it work and back. Now it's bogging and the exhaust is popping and the check engine light is on and the oil cooler is cracked and leaking. Sigh. I have to get all this **** fixed in order to sell it though.
I'll miss it, but i need something reliable.
jeanette... ren, if you read this. Sorry.
It looks damn good in my avater picture though. Blast!
