Question Estimates on parting a car out?

I'm picking up an 87 SE with low compression on thurs and I'm dealing with a guy to buy his good compression car that runs (it's auto and has assorted body damage) as a parts car. I'm going to take the good engine out of the parts car and swap it into the low compression, though otherwise clean, car.

How much can I roughly expect to get back on the purchase of the parts car by selling pieces of it to people on the forum? Everything on the inside is nice as far as mechanicals go. It's a 1987 SE with 54,000 miles and auto trans.

Also, what should I do with my low compression motor out of the other car? The car only has 59,000 miles, but the engine has 79 PSI. Keep it as a spare? Investigate the low compression and resell the engine?

Thanks a lot for your help on this matter.

It all depends on the timing, if you have room to store the car, disassemble and catolog it; and arent in a hurry, you can make a few bucks. If You think you can part it out in a week and make 1500 you need a reality check.

A 87 SE (AKA BASE) is the low car on the totem pole as far as desirable parts. Take pics, give a good description and you can help keep running cars on the road longer.

Yeah, I'm totally realistic with this and I don't expect to get 1500 in a week...BUT, is a couple hundred over the course of several weeks likely?

If you've got a power window switch that will fit the driver's side of my '89 vert., I'd like to hear what you want for it!!

I would keep the low compression engine and rebuild it. That way when my current engine goes u can easily swap the rebuilt one in and keep going. Just my .02

How much u want for the tranny.
