keep 10 ae stock or alter it
i just bought a 10ae and was thinking about what to do with it. it needs a paintjob and some engine work but it is a good start. no matter what i do im going to paint it white. my question is should i leave the body stock 88 style or should i install 89+ or aftermarket bumpers tail lights headlights etc?

im just talking about body mods. i need new bumpers and a taillight anyway. it is getting injectors fuel pump, s-afc, fmic, s5 or larger turbo port job etc. the paint is shot so im just trying to decide what to do. i sold my n/a because i wanted a t2 and my n/a was too clean to mod. now i run intot he problem of the 10ae being a rare care and having to decide on keeping it stock or making some changes. no matter what though it is staying stock white and getting sleak lights.

i think u should leave it how it came from the factory and preserve a one hot classic.. like an anniversary edition.... just my opinion.. dont make an s5 out of s4 t2 ae..... just doesnt feel good

I put the S5 tails on my AE along with different wheels. I couldn't stand all the white..needed some kinda contrast. However, I have all my parts. For engine mods, anything that needed to be cut, I bought off a junker...modded that. Now I have a few huge bins full of stock s4 pieces.
Mods so far:
-act clutch/ 9lb fly
-TID
-3" exhaust
-Removed emissions
-Battery in storage bin with charge terminals and kill switch behind the licence plate (this way ******** can't kill my car or short out my charge terminals) Pull the plate at the track though
-RB swaybars
-wheels/tires
-Walbro
-stainless braided clutch/brake/oil
This winter:
-Haltech e11
-Parallel fuel system
-1680cc injectors
-remove Power steering...loop the rack together
-TB mod +port polish intake mani
-Custom chevy style radiator
-spearco FMIC
I'm going to use the S4 turbo for now..port the hell out of it and see how fast I can go @ about 12-14psi
After that its a full T04 and a cage
Thing to remember is this: These cars *probably* aren't going to be super $$ collector cars. Keep the parts just in case, but use this car for it's true purpose. Racing. I'd much rather see a 10AE that someone has put a lot of time and effort into builded a super high performance rotary. I'm sorry but a stock rx7 just isn't *that* much fun.

Ya know what Moxeys93RX7? I too have a 10th ae, and I also have s5 parts I've been thinking of swapping. But I haven't. I've had mine for about 5 months, and have kept the exterior and interior stock. Alot of my friends said to keep it stock looking because it is an aniversary edition.. but you know what? I don't plan on keeping the stock bumpers or skirts. I would like to change my wing if I find a nice one too. So the way I see it is, if you're not gonna keep it stock looking to the fullest degree, then why hold back? I'm gonna put on my s5 lights, and in the not too distant future, a conservative kit... But please do keep it white, and keep the badges on the fenders... The only delema left is do I keep the rims white or not? That one I still haven't decided on...

I would mod only small things. I would leave the rear tails on for as long as I could cause they're unique.Either that or take em off for storage as a part to sell later.
Even though its a collector I would do mild/bolt on mods to the engine.
Exterior stuff would probably be a s5 front bumber cause I like the look. Some Maybe a different spoiler and some new Rims and I'd be happy.

I agree with most people when they say leave it looking stock but do some performance mods. I have one and wanted to leave it completely stock, but when my cats clogged and holes started to form in the mufflers I got the full RB exhaust. With that came emissions removal and a new fuel pump. So I've decided I want to mod it but I'll definately keep it looking the same, even the wheels.

Do what you want to do...It's your car.

Well, here's my take:
I own a 10th AE, and I made this same post almost a year ago. Most people told me to leave it the way it was. I decided to put all the mods from my previous TII in it. Things went crazy from there.
My 10th now has the following. . .
Haltech E6K
550/1680cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
60-1 full turbo
GReddy FMIC
HKS exhaust manifold
3" DP to N1 catback
Turbo XS Type H BOV
HKS wastegate
HKS EVC I boost controller
all emissions removed
variety of gauges
300ZX rims (soon to be powdercoated white)
Black Magic electric fan
ACT HD clutch
SS clutch line
SS brake lines
East Bear headlight conversion
Mazdaspeed replica pedestal
reupholstered seats with custom logo on headrest
leather shift and Ebrake boots
E.L. white gauge faces
89+ shifter with Miata ****
Pioneer MP3 player
carbon fiber radiator panel
I'm sure I've left something out, but that's the idea. I haven't found a kit that I really like, so I've left the body alone for the most part. I need new paint, and I'm going with the stock color for that.
BTW, if you're interested in the East Bear style sleek light kit, let me know. I'm in the process of making my own kit jsut like it, and it'll be much less than the $700.00 they go for now.

the car already has a downpipe highflow cat and rb catback. no matter what it is going to stay white ( i have an FD i am changing from VR to chaste white) i think i am going to leave the body stock or at least have clean painted stock parts to put on. performance wise there is no way im keeping it stock. eventually going haltech and large turbo port etc. for now just fuel pump injectors and s-afc. i might go 3 rotor sometime down the road just for fun

just because mazda made it ALL white doesn't mean that that looks best IMO. All the white brings out the panel gaps anyway. I'm going to paint the waist strip on my AE black for some contrast and remove the spoiler. I'd leave the tail lights though they're awesome.
