Er... only hitting 5-6 psi on my t2 ... wtf

I thought I would be at around 8psi?
I have an s4 street ported t2 engine with a racing beat turboback and a fcd. for some reason i cant seem to hit above 6psi? Am I missing something hear?

um... ..... ? stock boost is around that... why would you think you should be running more. The turbo back and the fcd don't change boost, nor does the ported engine....... unless I am missing something? Did you pray to the magical boost faeries? Sometimes that helps......

You will need a boost controller or some other way to control boost if you want to run other than stock. The stock waste gate is going to open at 5/6ish psi and unless you have boost creep, not allow it to go any higher....
duh? Maybe you should research a little more before you do something foolish? AKA engine go boom?

well for an s4 that psi of boost is about right which is stock. the s5 stock boost psi is like 8-9 psi. but well with you exhaust that you have, it should be making the psi creep to something like 8-10 psi.

so there are a couple things that this can mean....

first is that (im assuming stock turbo) the wastegate has been ported which will restrict boost creep

second is that (im assuming) you have stock guages. since you are equipted with a FCD, you factory boost guage will not read accurately. so you may be boosting above what the factory boost guage is telling you.

i hope that helps.

Either the wastegate is ported, the actuator is getting blown open, you have a restrictive intake, or the turbo is tired. Most cars with RB turbobacks see 10-14psi.

Mine is an Autometer, and I only see that much boost as well. Is there something I am missing with the gauge?

The wastegate on the FC is hooked directly to the boost side of the compressor. Not sure on the FC but on my GLHS, that limits boost to 5-6 psi. So unless you have a boost controller, either manual or electric, you won't see anymore than that. You can just pull the hose off the wg actuator and plug it, this will let the turbo boost up til it forces the wg open. Not recommended if you like your engine though
