congrats, you did real well for you're first time. Did they let you tape the hood and hatch seems? that would have given you at least another 3mph. I assume all you're under body panels are in place? if you don't have one you should find the aluminum underbelly try for behind the subframe, I have a part number some where i will try to find it for you.

EDIT;

:P
its mazda part #FB43-56-112d

Some where i recall seeing that with all the under body and the Mazda aero kit the car was under a .30 drag coefficient maybe like a .28, making it cut air better than most gen's of Corvette.

140 mph is not bad at all for a mile run.

FCs and FDs have less drag than any stock Corvette due to significantly lower frontal area, even though most Corvettes have a lower cd. In the end, you need less power to go the same speed.

I've done 145 (speedo, so figure like 139) back when she only had 53k on it. Bone stock.
Coulda done more but i got scared. That turn was coming up really quick!

You are deffinatly on the right track (not punny) now that you have some more experience. Maybe plan a trip to texas. I would love to run that but hell i can barely afford gas right now.

to clear up some questions....

no, i had no work done underneath the car at all. zip zero nada. nothing. i need to, and i need to look into making my own aero for the wheels and ****. i also had no undertray or belly pan ( two different things ).

as far as corvettes go, they are very slippery, but like mentioned, they arent as slipper as the fc. however, they have 500 horsepower. i has... less than 300.

as far as mods go, im pretty moddest. the one thing that i know kept my car going was the fast that i had water injection preturbo, and the fact that i had replaced my radiator with something larger. long sustained high rpm runs will increase the amount of heat produced greatly. i threw in a cork sport radiator ( its a damn nice unit btw. fist perfect) to not have high temps.

also, i have not been concerned that im runing only one vbelt in the stock location for all this to drive my alt and water pump. no problems at all.

i made the run with new tires as well. got some 452's on fd rims with H&R hubcentric wheel spacers.

i did. if they lost that rear wing and removed some aerodynamics, they could have gone much faster.

The dandy team will be back again on the salts before long. might take a couple years. it will be faster this time as they know what to do o get there.

the thing is, i dont care about 210+ mph. i just want to go and break the 200 mark, and get the shirt. so i know i did something great in my life.

I haven't read the entire thread but I know that the biggest gains on our car would be in making the undercarriage completely flat and smooth.

Not to be a Dick but you could just buy a litre bike and do some minor mods n hit 200 on the road for a lot less cash
