ensuring engine life

Is there a way that i can ensure the engine life (i think its the APEX seals that go out, or something like that) I mean can i rejuvinate it some how before it goes out. If i buy a car that is about to loose an engine, can i fix it b4? THanks

Age and detonation are the only real killers for apex seals. Just keep changing the oil regularly.

yes but that ivolves rebuilding the motor. if you dont do anything stupid you'll get 120-150k miles out of an engine

That requires taking the whole engine apart and rebuilding it.

Wouldnt that be better than waiting, and having to rebuild later(a blown engine)? Or is it to much of a hassle, or too expensive?
