Question Engine turning

i've got an 86 n/a with a rebuilt motor
i couldn't get it started, all i got was clicks.
we decided to try turning it manually by the bolt in the center of the main pulley, and got it to turn 1 and 1/4 times, then it wouldn't budge :ugh:

clicks? like that battery was dead? or clicks like it trying to turn over? if its trying to turn over but not firing, it may be flooded

clicks like trying to start, would flooding prevent it from turning more than 1 and 1/4 though?

Rotate the engine backwards. Something may be lodged inside. If you try to force it forward you may gouge a housing, etc.

Are you sure that something didn''t fall inside the engine when it was being installed?

Has it ever run since it was rebuilt? Or is it a new rebuild? If it is a new rebuild, something may not have been assembled correctly.
