Unhappy Engine troubles...please help!!!

Ok well here it goes and I'll try to keep it clear. I have been having issues with my car not getting enough fuel. On my way home from work tonight on the highway I went over a little bump then all the sudden the car started sputtering and had barely any power.

Some of the problems:
1) When I would reach 3k rpm the check engine light would come on and the car would not want to go past that.

2) The further I pressed the pedal it would sputter and want to die.

3) As I pull into my garage it finally dies but I start it back up and no more sputtering.

4) Then smoke was coming from the engine bay, just a little, but I couldn't exactly pin point it.

5) And the weirdest thing was smoke started coming from the two Heater vents above the stereo, but the heater was off. And it smelt terrible!

Well, I tried to keep it clear and descriptive hopefully this helps you help me.
-Thanks

How about some history on the car, like mileage, maintenance done, etc.. First you need to pull the engine code and figure out what's going on. The symptoms you described could be TPS, fuel filter, loose sensor, etc..

Welp, mileage is about 158k. I always take care of this thing, but I've only had it for almost a year. I take it out to the track here and there as well. I do the oil changes as needed, and just change the plugs and such. Now looks like I'll be doing the fuel filter and those kinda things as well. Hmm not sure what else to tell ya but I haven't done any work on the TPS yet so I'll check it out tomorrow.

YEA!!! kinda weird started to scar me, but I don't know why in the world it did that!? Maybe just from the smoke that was creeping out the engine bay?

sounds like a grounding issue, be sure all the grounds are nice and tight/clean even at the battery at both the + and - terminals and try to pinpoint where the smoke was coming from under the hood, likely it has an oil leak that has migrated to collecting on the exhaust.

If it's fuel smell, check that the fuel rail & lines aren't leaking.

you could have had a small FPD fire and not even realized it, try looking under the upper intake for charred wires.

ok I'll try thaat but today the thing has ran like nothing has happened and has all the power back and everything. But I'm still gonna replace a LOT of stuff. I wanna clean the injectors, get a new PD (by the way where's a good cheap place to get a PD), I'm gonna check the grounds, get a fuel filter, and some other small things too. Thanks for the help guys it's GREAT
