Unhappy problems with 87 rx7

i have just bought a 87 rx7 it has some problems, i dont know much about rotory's, the problem is that when at an idle, the rpm's flutter from 1000 to 2500, i dont know what it can be, if you can help me that would be great. and there is another problem too, the rearend is loose im not sure what it is? when i touch the gas or take out the clutch i can hear the rearend clunck like its the u-joint but i have no idea since you guys know more about the rx7's maybe you can give me some tips and tricks or so. thanx dave

You clunk is more than likely a bad front differential mount.

Yep, sounds exactly like a bad mount. I've had one before.
