Thumbs up Engine Torque Brace

I whipped this up last week and just got some pics today. Makes the clutch engagement more positive feeling and sometimes rattles the stuff attached to the fender. (not too badly)

I used motor paint and it wasn't sticking very well let alone curing very quickly. I'll be repainting it in the future.

Tell me what ya think of it.

Nope. Shifter doesn't wiggle as much either.

Most of them use an isolator of some sort. I have the ability to add one through a cantilever type design I'm thinking of, but will only do that if it starts getting annoying. (only rattles a little and not a continuous rattle)

I drilled the intake brace and welded in the 3/8" grade 8 bolt. (I know its severe overkill) Then measured out the already present threaded inserts in the fender and drilled those holes in my angle iron, made a backing plate for it and then removed the strut to chissel off those nuts. Welded in the other bolt for that bracket (I like only needing one wrench and this way it will never come loose) Then installed them both after a quick shot of paint. Measured the distance between the two studs and cut my pipe to length. Then welded the nuts on the ends of the pipe, ground it down for a nice smooth tapered look and hit that with paint. Pretty simple indeed.

If I do end up making this isolated, I'll make an L shaped bracket come off the fender stud, and have some form of suspension on the other end of it and then attach the arm to that floating bracket at the bend.

I'd sell them but I'd need you to send me your rats nest removed front intake bracket for modification. You also have to enlarge the holes created by the removal of the welded in nuts in the fender to accomodate the 3/8" bolts.

The alt is a damn rebuilt that doesn't hold voltage as well as my last one. Some ****** off ebay posted it as "NEW" and I got it complete with the ripped off remains of the rebuild tag screwed into the back. It does however make better power while higher in the revs. I'm gonna take it to a guy I know who modifies and rebuilds some serious alternators. He built me a "120A" that registered a solid 148A on the tester. (back in my car stereo days) I have to get money before I have that done though. I'm sure he can get this thing up over the 3rd gen 100A mark.

Well, if it looks like mine...

Oh, and about those bushings. I'm making subframe connectors to remove the lateral motion of the subframe. They'll also have these 3/8" heim joints on the unibody mount side and will be welded straight to the crossmember on the other end. I have the body mounts installed right now, just need to get more hiem joints and the time to finish them.

And, Thanks for all the compliments! I was kinda surprized to find this thing rated a 5 already.

The mounting location on the fender removes the bracket the plug wires were attached to, so I drilled an extra hole in the top of the angle iron to stick the tie-wrap through. The pic doesn't show that too well.
