engine swap

so the n/a 13b had the oil control rings go out on it, so i decided to just upgrade to the 13bt. I bought a complete engine with wiring harness and ecu, what else will i need to complete the swap?

tranny, starter, flywheel, clutch, diff., halfshafts, fuel pump, tach ( optional because the NA has a voltmeter instead of boost and the redline is off by 1K)

try this next time: SEARCH BUTTON BELOW THE RX7CLUB BANNER

Good luck and make sure you check EVERYTHING before you push it so you don't blow your motor. oh, and post pics. Good luck with the swap and upgrade parts instead of going OEM when it comes to certain parts.

First, is the 13bt the same series as your car? Depending on your answer, this swap will either be very tricky, or easy.

Funny, my S4 n/a, S4 TII, and S5 TII all have the same redline. It was only S5 n/a (and late models at that, I believe) that had the 9k tach. Perhaps you should be the one searching. It would also be the gauge cluster he would want to swap not the "tach."

Care to elaborate so the OP knows just wtf you are talking about? Or are you just ignorant and posting that so you appear to know what you are talking about?

9 posts (and this one being full of ****) and you're telling someone with 1 post to search. Hilarious.

haha thanks for the details, I'll look into it some more. It should be simpler than the "open umbrella in your ***" situation you have ATM.

p.s. only a complete asshat would think you can take the tach out of the cluster like that. I didn't know it needed such elaborate directions for such a simple part. ( vipers doesn't count because I don't think he cut OUT the original tach.)

take a breath and chillax a tad.

and i planned on just getting a boost meter on my column or something, or is it absolutely necessary for a new cluster?

you said complete swap which, to me, means complete TII swap. you can keep the NA stuff if you get the mazdatrix driveshaft.

From what others have posted, found via search, many have claimed to see 250hp and anything above tends to cause premature diff failure. You can limit yourself to mild bolt-ons if you want but once you go turbo you'll always want more power. The diff is the most often ignored part and you don't want that breaking while driving do you? I didn't but it's up to you.

I kept my NA cluster. That's why I said optional. It's up to you.

Then you shouldn't have been the asshat who told him he would need the "tach." The "tach" is also actually quite easily taken out of the cluster.

k thanks. Hope your day goes better. Mine is awesome so far.

BY THE WAY: you do honestly think i was talking about the TACH ALONE even when I spoke of the voltmeter?? seriously guy any more **** and you'd be a prefect PIIDB candidate.

no the NA drive shaft doesn't mate up to the TII tranny.

Non-Turbo CAR with Turbo Transmission Swapped in, still using the non-turbo differential

so, where can you find a good deal on a JDM TII swap? I am looking for the whole ball of wax (engine, tranny, running gear:like a/c, alt, etc., ecu, harness, turbo, intercooler, coils, etc.) My 89 n/a just fried itself......my o2 sensor wire broke, so I ran lean and discovered my rb header glowing red hot, so the seals have now failed. I want to do a JDM TII swap instead of just a rebuilt n/a.

So now hold on a second....everyone says you need the wiring harness right?...so can that be a jdm harness or us or does it matter?

The jspec harness will only work if you lengthen it, because the the car it came out with had the ECU on the opposite side.

Back on topic- So can a t2 drive shaft fit on a n/a differential? Or does everyone have to buy that mazdatrix driveshaft instead of picking up a t2 driveshaft for half the price?

i just used the NA engine harness, i am still using the NA driveline till i get the TII rear end, but i have noticed that the NA rearend and the tranny are pretty strong. Ive done some pretty harsh stuff with the NA driveline and nothin has happend to me.. i know it wil one day but i mean shoot i need the TII rear end anyways right..

I am using a Walbro255 fuel pump. and it is working great for me..

my swap was plug and play all the way. besides the few wires i extended so it looked alittle better.. but other then the fuelpump it is al plug and play.. kinda wish i went with the s5 engine. but i guess im happy with what i got.. if you need anyhelp or have any other questions just PM me.
