engine shuts off after about 7 seconds

Car will start for about 7 seconds while in this position.
1989 GTUs

I recently rebuilt the engine and am now in the process of trying to start the engine.
if i turn the crank angle sensor to an abnormal position (see picture) I can get the engine to start.
It runs for about 7 seconds at about 3000 rpm's (AWS i presume) then shuts off.

I have swapped out ECU with know good one.
I have swapped out the Mass Air Flow sensor with known good one.
Crank angle sensor is properly aligned
Fuel pressure is normal.
TPS has been tuned

Please advise any ideas

thanks

UPDATE: After taking blind cap of CAS, and adjusting to visual alignment, I can keep it going by pressing on the gas. If I let off the case the car will stall.
engine is running rough.

The idling problem is most likely a vacuum leak. Check the brake booster hose, it's the usual culprit. The rough running is another problem however, and I bet your timing's a bit off. Pull the CAS and line the pin up with the second mark on the eccentric shaft pulley. Pull the cap off and align the CAS, and stab it so the bolt is centered in the slot. This should put you close, if not right on TDC, and you can adjust from there.
