If I haven't already done an engine swap 4 times I'd use your procedure. As it is I can do it in a day now. I'm taking friday off to swap the enigne on my daily driver.

Showoff.
So for a first timer, how long should it take? I am doing all the steps this weekend, except actuall pulling the engine itself. How long should that take w/o air tools?

It took us two hours to stick a turbo engine in without air tools, we also put the tranny on outside the car.

R&R virgin, working slowly, budget 3 to 4 hours to get the thing out, and same to get it back in. Its a lot faster if you don't have a/c and p/s (but you do have p/s...)

LOL, yeah, I am the same way. After my swaps, and the wiring harness swaps, I don't even need to label any wiring or vacuum hoses when I take them off. I just remember where they fit.
I am getting pretty fast at TII's. I can have my engine out in exactly an hour, using air tools and a hydraulic lift. Mind you, I have no a/c or p/s, and my intake and rad are a LOT simplified, as is my fuel system.

Sean:

can i have a copy? For the T2..

mygiantcircle@yahoo.com

Hey..why just take pictures of the engine removal?? Do you have a camcorder? Why don't you tape the whole thing from beginning to the end (reinstall too)? I don't think people mind paying $10-$15 per copy for your time and effort.

Here's the thing: I am not doing another R&R until next August/September.
Rico wanted some help now, so I wrote this.
I can put pictures up for free (which people love. Free =good), and a video you have to pay for and wait for shipping.

After my summer job, I will be buying a digital camera and a digital video camera. If anyone wants a video, I'll make one (about an hour long). I have an AIW Radeon VC in my pc, so video quality will be near perfect. I also have a personal T1 connection (parents have money), so I can send the videos directly.

Are people interested in this, or just a website?
The website would have about 200 pics, step by step, bolt by bolt, and list every tool I use and every size of every nut.
I would then continue the writeup into a rebuild, and a port job, although I think maybe a video would be better there.

What do you guys think? Video's or website?

OK, is anyone still waiting on a copy?

Mr. Dave Gibson:
I would be honoured for you to host my write-up. You can expect pics and everything around the middle of September.

OK, here is what I can do:

Online:
- Write-up with full pictures
- Digital Video

To buy (You'd have to cover cost and shipping, rounded up to the nearest dollar) $4-$10, depending on what is used, and where it has to be shipped
- DVD video
- VHS video
- CD-R with digital video

I will definitely do the online stuff, but which of the Buying ones would you like?

I will also, in the same month, make How-to's on:
- engine overhaul
- p/s removal
- a/c removal
- wastegate porting (friend has one)
- Complete rebuild
- Engine porting
- Intake Manifold porting
- TB mod and porting
- T04S04 install
- FMIC install
- Haltech install and dyno tuning (video for sure)
- T-56 6 speed tranny install
- rear-sumped fuel tank to inline pump and complete fuel system

I could include these on the video, and if done via CD-R or DVD could make them in different sections.

Anything else anyone would want a video or pictured write-up for? I will have Both a S5 TII and an NA (probably S5) to do this to.
Of course the video would have some footage of my cars, driving and beating the **** out of other cars at Mission Raceway.

Feedback please.
Mr. Gibson, would you be up to hosting the online videos and the write-ups for all of the above?

Alright, which one?
Around that time I wil be adding the Meziere Water pump kit.
I can include my current set-up for anyone who wants it.

Suspension I can do as well.

Also, is anyone interested in having parts anodized through me? I can do it for damn cheap.
I know, I need pics first....

Good God, I will be busy. I am working an average of 66 hours a week, pulling in $24K for the 18 weeks of summer. Unfortunately, no driving .
I figure I'll actually get around $28K, but I dunno for sure.
I'll be the only one on here with a 6-speed.
