Engine Rebuild Question

For all the people that have done engine rebuilds at home. How did you get the engine out to work on it?

you can rent them or buy them for fairly cheap!!
unless you are the hulk or something and can lift the engine out by hand!!

or you can take it out in pieces!!

Aluminum ladder, chains, and friends.
Did that once, and only once.

Hahaha!! Nice diagram!

A friend and I, me being not that tall or hulky, lifted a 12A out of my old car without too much struggling. Dented and scratched the fender though.

Hoist is the only way to fly.

You had better put 2 or 3 more people on the end of that rope But in all seroiusness, just get a hoist, makes it 100x easier, and safer.

I'm contemplating the use of a tow motor (fork lift) at my former work. I don't see any complications with this an the use of a heavy duty chain.

I bought my hoist from Princess Auto for quite a lot less than the present price (on sale!).
Try

2 ton hoist, page 162. Its $349 regular price. You need it at least twice...once to pull it and once to put it back in! You can always sell it afterwards, and recover your investment. Backyard mechanics are always looking for them.
I've kept mine, as I have a number of older cars, including 86GXL & an 86FieroGT.
But I am popular at work with the fix-it-yourself guys as I lend it out for free. One guy even made improvements to it by installing push handles!
Good luck, Dave

I managed to lift the engine out of my first fc by taking the front sway bar and putting it through a lift chain while standing on top of the front strut mounts. But my friends were too weak to carry it forward from there, so we ended up using the pole from a stop sign in our neighborhood, on guy on each side of the pole it worked fine lol
