I have never grokked how a "gently used" car ends up with it's motor for sale at 20k miles.

Japan2LA on this forum has a great reputation for selling good used JDM rotary engines at a good price.

1500 for a full turbo 2 swap though? i mean that pretty insane and there thousands of low mileage honda engines that get imported all over the world so the fact a low mileage import doesnt bother me.

so maybe if lucky someone can do a turbo swap to a na vert(me) for like 2.5 -3 k thats what it seems like to me

Every engine is compression tested before shipment, in the exception of some engines like rotary engines: mazda RX-7 13BT, 13BTT, 20B and 7MGE, 7MGTE, and these engines come "as is" and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied; although we try our best to provide you the best of rotary engine in the market. there is always a legitimate reason why to buy something, and then always a legitimate reason why NOT to buy something.

jdm importers are hit and miss. japan2la is the only good one simply because he knows a lot about rx7's, so he can sell the phew that end up being good.

this is what i did. i had an engine builder on this forum make me a short block, and i found a t2 tranny for cheap locally. the engine was 2300 bucks shipped, and then the tranny was about 200 bucks locally. so far, i have a tranny that shifts smooth as butter, and i have an engine that after 30k miles, still purrs like a kitten.

The JDM engine should be fine after you rebuild it...

Otherwise ya you need a lot of luck.

3.8 to 4.5K for a complete swap is very doable --- but you really have to source and do all work your self.

if you think 4K is expensive ---- then you should just forget the swap idea altogether.

Im in process of rebuilding my S5 NA myself, seals alone already cost like 2K --- I know thats because I want ceramic but even with Mazda seals it will be in the 1.3-5 K range. does NOT include rotors and/or any housing.

I went with some random JDM importer years ago. I spent $1,500 on a S4 13-B turbo engine, transmission, and all manifolds/harness/etc. The engine was fucked... It really is HIT OR MISS. I spent another $2,700 to have it rebuilt. I wish I would have done a lot more research and bought from someone on this forum or dealt with a reputable importer like: japan2la. Don't get me wrong... I love my engine. But I spent a lot of money.

Take our advice. We want to save you money.
