Engine mount condition

Hi all, are these engine mounts stuffed? or can they be reused? I think I know the answer but just want to double check before I get a new set. Cheers Diggz

if I was putting a used engine in something id use them...

if I spent 3-4K on a rebuild id probably put new ones in.

they will work, depends if u want to be a cheap *** or not,

usually one side will eventually break eventually you may not even notice it if had ones where I didn't know until I pulled the engine and they just fell apart

but there not overly hard to replace with the engine in the car

Thanks for the reply man. They would be going on a freshly rebuilt engine. I'm a little torn (no pun intended) as they still feel really solid and the splits only look superficial (I've never actually seen what a torn 13b mount looks like), but you hit the nail on the head I have already spent thousands on the rebuild so whats another $100 or so more? ...... Think ill just get new ones. P.S I am trying to be a cheap mother F# lol

If you want to go other than stock,You can always try a mount by HimniRacing or something similar.
It is a poly mount..not sure of the exact composite.

Heh..some Canadian guys have used Hockey Pucks..but seeing you are in ChristChurch you may not have the luxury of getting access a Hockey puck...lol!

If you want to go "overboard" then Anthony Woodard Racing has some real spiffy mounts.

Don't use any mount that has a single through bolt as this isn't truly isolating. The tension side the of twisting motor will only pull on the bolt and will transfer vibration and noise as if it was just a solid mount.

The awr mounts are correct and isolate properly, the himni mounts are single through bolts and junk.

Cheers for the reply mate. I have also got a set of second hand Polyurethane mounts that i picked up cheap.. Don't think I'll use those either, they came from an FC that had an engine bay fire needless to say they are a little on the scorched side (the guy selling them originally implied they where in good shape..... I really have to stop buying stuff on a whim ) I'll post a pic later.

You weren't kidding those AWR mounts are hella spiffy, I do like the look of those.. Overboard we may have to go.

it doesn't look that bad to me, most of the mounts i see that rip have a bit of oil impregnation from oil leaks. the mounts are easy enough to replace with the engine installed that i'd probably run it.

i've seen virtually new mounts have those superficial stress cracks.

I have decided to run the mounts as the cracks do seam superficial as you have stated and worst case I will replace them when the time arises.

That's from not degassing the polyurethane mixture prior to pouring it into the mold. Who made them?

Not to sure, picked them up cheap from a scrap yards online auction, they were parting out an FC that had an engine bay fire. I just assumed the damage was from that.

Well dam here I was thinking the problem was the lack of fuel.. But the battery.. Well boy I feel sheepish

In all seriousness I leave it off if I'm tinkering. Never know what my sometimes spastic arms may collect when they are in the thick of it.
