Engine Modulator?

I was talking to a seller of a S5 91' Vert that I would like to buy.
He told me that when he brought it to the mechanic, the mechanic said to him if he wanted to get the FC back to starting up again, it would need a "engine modulator"?

I'm looking through my Haynes manual and I can't find any info on "engine modulator".

Can someone explain?

Sounds like he needs to find a new mechanic.

It's mounted between the flux capacitor and the headlight fluid reservoir.

^ha ha i got my buddy back at the shop with the "headlight resivior"... he was seriously looking for about 10min all around the headlights.
anyway to the op there is no engine modulator on our engines. its a big word for the confused customer when he dosnt know what the hell is wrong with it either. GET THAT CAR OUT Of THERE asap, and ask the mechanic what a "engine modulator" is exacly and what it does on our cars...wait for a long stumbled response, then laugh and tell him there is no engine modulators on our cars and to think of a new symptom

LmFAO I knew it.

I'm going to have to save that vert
The seller is letting go of her for real cheap.
But thanks again for the replies.

Here's a couple of pics of her:

What's the issue with the car?

Automatics have vacuum modulators. That may be the confusion.
