hey my car wont start on its own it has to be push started and when it starts there is a very loud grinding noise from the engine and if i let of the gas it dies instently. any ideas?

 

My first idea would be to stop trying to start the car until I found out what was grinding.

Just turn the engine over by hand and see what's up.

 

Seals, They're Going!!

 

is there an easy way to check? if my seals are going. if so how much do u think it would cost to get them replaced? or would it be cheaper to get a new engine. i have a 13b in it now can a swap for 13bt? or do i have to change drivetrain as well?

 

Why does it have to be push started? When you try to start it normally, what happens? Does the starter turn over at all?

Have you done anything to the car recently before the problem started?

 

maybe a stuck starter gear.. the car not starting on its own and grinding but starting with a push (not using the starter) sounds more like a starter issue..

well it has a new battery new plugs and a new starter. to start it normally it just turns over but wont fire. but when i push start it it runs but with a loud grinding noise coming from the engine. so i drove it around he bloc really sluggish the pulled in to the driveway as soon as i let my foot off the gas it died. any ideas would help me alot.

no still wont fire will crank but not start
