Engine Lift Mounts (Using an Engine Hoist)

Hello Everyone,

I'm pulling an engine this weekend and I am curious where the engine lift mounts are. I have found lots of threaded holes that I considered putting 5/16ths eye bolts into but I am having second thoughts. Does anyone have a picture of what bolts these are. Also is it necessary to drain fluids if I'm only moving the engine and tranny 4 feet?

I'm following this guide. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-arch...emoval-376601/

Thanks everyone for the help! pretty excited.

Or lifting it by wrapping a chain through the engine mounts?

There should be factory mounts for lifting stock

One is on the front iron on the drivers side by the alternator, and the other is on the rear iron on the intake side.

They're big iron ears with zinc plated steel loops

Hmm, I think I'm missing those no?
You can see in one photo the eye bolt idea but now I'm thinking the engine mount wrap around is safer.

Intake side

Alternator side

The stock lifting point on the front is literally right in front of the eye bolt in the last pic
It's that ear sticking up right in front of it

And you need to lift from the other side of the rear iron, from what I can see they're both in the front of the engine, good luck trying to get it out that way

It needs to be a balanced load so you can lift it out level

And don't uses those eye bolts in the housing, its aluminum and could strip while lifting and drop your shiz

Do your self a favor and pull the uim, then you'll have access to the rear ear by the passenger side firewall

Make sure your mounting your lift points to iron, not aluminum, good luck man have fun

ahh yes, I see that a bolt is sheered off through the alternator area ear. Drilled it out and put a bolt through to the chain.

Don't use 5/16 bolts. The car is metric. You'll screw the threads up.

no threads left. Because they were sheered I had to drill it out and just slide a bolt through. Eye bolts have been removed.
