Engine Iron colour

While rebuilding my newly acquired mint condition 86 GX, I decided to pretty her up a tad.

The car is saphire blue metallic.

Should I paint my engine irons to match the car colour, or paint them gloss black?

I think either would look good. This while be matched to semi-polished aluminum parts.

I am also redoing my wiring harness in black, and putting on black silicone hoses. Ignition wires are brand new stock blue.

Id go for the gloss black myself. Over a short time that blue metallic will probably look very poor once it gets dirty. The black will be easier to keep "clean". Ever see a SBC with an orange block that was let get filty. Looks like ***..

True, I hear what you are saying, but I am also **** about cleanliness.

This way easy on my TII; my car was black.

Funny, I had the same body colour too, until I had It painted 1999 Mazda Miata Highlight Metallic Silver. My theme Is Silver on Black. Both Inside and out. Go gloss black!

My car is silver, however I wrapped my harness in black silicon tape, my wires are black, as are vac lines. So right now Im stripping down my bay, painting the engine bay itself flat black, as is all my motor parts Looks pimp IMO. About half done my manifolds n such, the engine keg should be done by cp racing soon, just gotta finish the engine bay itself. I hate stripping this **** out... I dont want to pull out the wiring harnesses, its not fun (havent ever tried the drivers side). Just going to bag those and hang them over the front sway or something.

doesn't black absorbe heat more than white...just a thought, I went with white and blue my self, pretty much just for the before engine installe pic, and right after its done, since I have a daily driver....but hey I may just keep it that clean!! and besides what else are you going to do while waiting for parts...

Black paint with a ceramic additive will actually transmit less heat

Eh, I think both would look good. I am asking b/c I want to know what everyone else likes more, b/c it gives me a better chance of appealing to a buyer when I would go to sell it.

It doesn;t matter which colour to me either way; I just want to appeal to the broadest audience.

Definately gloss black, just like all other cast iron under the hood. Looks great with natural aluminum, although its not any easier to keep clean.

I say paint it the body color. I am about to paint my own engine's irons competition yellow to go with my full body / chassis repaint in that color.

yeah, black only absorbs more light energy. Plus, the heat isn't coming from the fenders, it's comong from the engine.
