Engine Install - MY QUESTIONS

ok well im gonna keep this specifically for my install questions...maybe other people will be able to use it as well but its mostly because I NEED HELP.

First off, the VAC line on the back of the LIM just below the primary injectors that faces towards the firewall. What is it, and where does it go?

Next, The VAC line that is in between the oil injectors. It faces up...is that the secondary injector air bleed? Does that just connect to the back of the UIM where the old one went?

uhhh...i think thats all for now...ill have more later tonight, or maybe after dinner...time to eat.

Thanks,
-Matt

hmmm...no answers to that yet...but i have another question...

where do those 2 lines on the back of the UIM go to? I thought they were primary and secondary injectors bleeds...but on the back of my UIM (J-Spec) there is just the VAC line in between the 2 oil injectors, and the one above that facing towards the firewall...where do they go? block them off?

-Matt

P.S. THIS NEEDS TO RUN TOMORROW!

Ok, so i am missing a vac nipple where i marked it in green...

Isnt it kinda important to have a secondary injector air bleed?

The primary injectors are not on the back of the LIM, they're in the engine's centre iron, so I can't understand your description. You should have three nipples in a row on the rear of the LIM directly after the TB; primary injector air bleed (small), oil injector air bleed (big) and double throttle vac (small).

Next, The VAC line that is in between the oil injectors. It faces up...is that the secondary injector air bleed? Does that just connect to the back of the UIM where the old one went?
It's the primary injector air bleed, and connects to the nipple mentioned above. S4's do not have a secondary injector air bleed.

J-specs don't have the nipple for the double throttle system. S4 J-specs just have the primary injector air bleed (small), oil injector air bleed (big).

S4's don't have one. The diagram above (done by me) is an edited version of the 88 FSM vacuum routing diagram which incorrectly shows a secondary injector air bleed. Ignore it.

So let me get this straight...cap the top one on the back of the UIM, then the next one down goes to the nipple in between the 2 oil injectors, then the one below that is the oil injector air bleed (4 hose splitter) and then i have one below that which goes through a one way valve to the TB. and finally, the hose on the LIM that faces towards the firewall is my FPR line...

I have a JSpec block, LIM with S4 TII UIM/rest of the parts...in case that helps...

does that make sense at all?

and...IT FIRED RIGHT UP!

i tried to start it, and it wouldnt...so i held the pedal to the ground (rtek 1.7 deflood) and then let off, and it fired right up. RUNS SMOOTH...leaking water out of the hose under the UIM that goes to the TB...i think anyways...and i smell a bit of gas...gonna check my fuel lines tomorrow...PRETTY GOOD FOR A FIRST INSTALL, and first try starting it up...

Thanks to everyone who helped

you're supposed to jumper the fuel pump connector before you put the UIM back on and start the car so you dont find a leak and have to take all that crap back off and put it on again.

It would've helped more at the beginning when you just said you had a J-spec, no mention of using US manifolds...

But basically you're right.
