engine Harness replacement, anything I should Know?

engine Harness replacement, anything I should Know?

My main engine harness melted everyone wanted $600 labor to do the job so im doing it myself. I should be getting the Harness tuesday. I have the dash out and thats it for now, I didnt want to get to far ahead of myself.
My question is is there anything I should know tips/tricks?
and whats the best way of going about taking the old one out and puting the new one in???

hey mister green. what harness are u changin. is it the one that comes from the computer that goes to the motor, thats the one that ive seen burned up.but it sounds like u are changin the interior harness. ive done harness swaps before but im no pro though.

the harness that goes from the passanger side behind the dash on the the engine on the drivers side the the main fues box with the EGI fueses and eng comp under the radiator to the passanger side.

NO but that harness is a pain in the *** and weighing in at about 40 pounds. I did mine and it was pretty tricky but it can be done with time. What caught on fire? Usually everyone replaces the emmission harness from the PD.

I was pluming a FMIC and I nicked into the wires that are on the passanger side by the radiator and didnt know it. It grounded out, I had the car running for 5-10 mins befor I realized what I had done and by then it was to late!!!! it melted in spots all the way into the car by the steering wheel......Im so stupid I hate it when stupid **** happens like this the slightest mistake!!!! DAMN

No, the harness feeds under the Front oil coolre support, along the front frame rail inside the engine compartment, tru the firewall to the interior

Well I didnt realize I gotta take of the heater unit and drain the coolant. damn it keeps getting bigger and bigger

Wrong. Main harness and starter harness, along with a front relay/fuel pump resistor etc weighed 24 lbs shipped

well I just gotta say WOW!!!!!! I got over 10 hours into it and still not done. I got the passanger side drivers side the wires by the fire wall in the engine bay the harness that goes down to the starter and up to the alt. and the engine fuse box all done up. still gotta run the wires across the front bumper and into the passanger side and put it all back together Im thinking most the afternoon and in the night tom. Its alot of work but its worth saving $600 as long as it starts and runs right when I get it all done. Its not really hard work just very very very time consuming!!!!
