Question Engine "Gurgling" Calling all Guru's

Recently my car has a "gurgling" noise upon start up, almost like it's not getting enough oil throughout the rotor housings, and the check engine light comes on. After the car warms up the noise goes away, and the light goes out. Anyone have this problem before? Note: this only happens in subzero temperatures.

sounds like its a little low on coolant, check and see
if the top rad hose is flattening out when it is cold,
I have seen some non factory rad hoses get soft
and when the motor cools off instead of pulling
coolant back from the overflow it pulls the top rad hose flat

Everything seems to be good with the coolant. In fact I've been keeping and eye on it, on a daily basis to figure out what is going on. That's why I'm leaning more towards an oiling problem.

What weight of oil are you using? And what temperatures does this happen at?

Right now I'm using 10-40 for winter. It is happening right off startup. I let the car warm for 10-15 min, and it's fine. So I'm a little confused.

I was just out in the car again, and "gurgling" isn't the best way of describing it after all. I would say it's more of a "raspy" noise! It sounds alot like an exhaust leak, however it sounds more internally, if that makes sence............ Anyways, anyone know?

Nope, i just replaced the gasket recently, and also double checked it to make sure it was tight. But thanks, keep them coming, there has to be something I'm forgetting to check.........

Dude! He's in Tennesee, you're in Toronto. Slight temp diff.

I've been running Castrol 10W30 all winter and my 7 couldn't be happier. I use 20W50 in the summer.

Where in Toronto are you? I might be able to blow by sometime and lend an ear.

edit: PM RETed and ask him to check out this thread. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more knowledgeable guy when it comes to TIIs.

I'm accually in Mississauga down by the lake. The other day it was mild out, and I didn't have the problem at all, so as I said before this only seems to be happening in subzero temps. It might be the expansion of the thermo wax pellet when it warms up to let oil flow to the second rotor. That would be my best guess. But I didn't happen last year.

FWIW, the expansion of the Oil Thermo Pellet lets Oil Into BOTH Rotors through the E Shaft.

If it's tripping the CHECK ENGINE light, why not scan for error codes?

If there is noise you can actually hear from inside the motor some thing serious is fucked. Sounds like it run good for now so I don't think it is internal.
