engine disassembled, rear rotor and housing trashed, help ?
well i got my engine completly disassembled today. once the flywheel was off it should almost be illegal how easy the engine comes apart. unfortunetly, the rear rotor pinched an apex seal and gouged some nasty grooves in the housing, both the rotor and housing are pretty much junk. is this normal, and can the housing be resurfaced or do i need new ones ? the front is fine and i assume both housings are identical, they look so, where can i find a housing and rotor, and how much will they end up costing all together ??
yes you will have to purchase a new rotor and housing....sometimes rotary ressurection has them iam sure he can hook u up....if not check the parts for sale threads.....good luckkk
Also expect to pay at least 4 bills for both

i was looking on craigslist and found a whole engine for 175 bux ... complete engine heh. anyways chances are good id imagine that at least one of the rotors and housings are acceptable, both front and rear rotors are interchangable right ? they look too damn similar not to be ... also i have the rear rotor, just one corner is pinched so i could reuse the bearings from that if i needed to, and im replacing all the seals as well.
ok im not sure what grinding out the diffusers means (new to rotaries) but my car is an 89 gtu n/a. also, this engine i found is from an 87, but its a 13b same as mine, are the housings and rotors interchangable for all 2nd gen rx7s or no ?

you have to keep the same rotating assembly, so you'd have to use the heavier, lower compression S4 rotors and flywheel. I'd PM rotary resurrection asking for a price on a S5 Na rotor and an NA housing. Also see if you can get a set of turbo exhaust sleeves.
i found the rotary resurection website, apparently it might be cheaper AND easier to buy a new engine from them for about 1000 bux ??? that sounds awful cheap for a rebuilt basically new engine. well im going to email them and get a quote, thanks for the suggestions i appreciate the help.

You might wanna hit refresh on your browser when you get to my site...not every page will be updated, but the main pages and pricing pages should be. I am taking work now. I do need to get the site worked on, there are some update and functionality issues at hand that I do not know how to solve.
The $1000 is a BASE PRICE assuming a fully rebuildable core which you already know you do not have. For a useable rotor and rotorhousing (used) you'd be looking at another 300 or so. Shipping and external gaskets extra as well.
Damage to rotor and rotorhousing from broken seals is standard. http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...nt_damage.html

so i found 2 different engines on ebay for 1400 bux. 1 is a 89-92 turbo complete with ecu, accesories, clutch and trans, and has 54000 miles. the other doesnt say the the year its for but has the same with 20000 miles. they both say they include everything to do an engine swap with an na rx7, what all is needed to do the swap exactly ? and how hard would it be ?

Ugh...jspec and turbo conversion questions rear their ugly heads once again.
Jspecs are used japanese junkyard engines. They are often excellent cores for refresh/rebuild, but usually not that great to drop in and run as-is. IT is a big no-no to let rotaries sit unturned/unstarted for more than a few weeks, and by most calculations these jspecs have sat for at least a year if not more. Some show up already blown (there was a reason the car was in the junkyard to begin with). Sometimes you get lucky and get one that can be run as-is. The odds seem to be about 33%.

well a swap seems to be a bit too much of a headache for me. All i really want to do is find a good rotor and housing and order up all the seals and gaskets to get my engine back together and running !
