Help with '88 'vert
Recently inherited a '88 N/A 'vert with 114,000 that has a few issues. First , the top will not always go down, after numerous trys there will be a barely audible "click" and the the top will retract in normal fashion after the first stop in the retraction process. The top will / has always gone to the closed postion every time. The hand brake light on the idiot light cluster does come when opening / closing per the manual. Could this in the switch as the wipers only work when in the on pos. only ??
Second. Recently had the temp. gauge peg after 10 minutes of idling / driving, pulled over right away. The upper hose was hot to the touch and heat was on and working. The overflow tank had the normal amount of coolant no leaks found, caps were tight and no bubbles in the coolant . Re-fired the enginge after 10 minutes and the temp. gauge when back to where it normaly is (above the C and has never run above 1/2). The problem did not happen again until the car sat overnight. Could this be sensor problem ? Do not know the age of thermostat. Drove through August heat on the Wrong (East) coast. Any help would be appreciated.
