Engine cuts out when cold
Ok the problem: When the car is cold and I rev it up (anywhere between 3k-4k rpm) it cuts out like its dying. But doesn't completly die. It will do this about 2 or 3 times till the check engine light comes on. Once the light comes its fine and will not hesitate again until the car is cold. The car runs fantastic also. Here's what might of happened: Recently my water pump started leaking. But it was a slow leak and I needed to take the car to work. Antifreeze is too expensive to waste and the weather was good enough to where it won't freeze. Anyways the night before I got my water pump it went from 50's to 10's and froze my **** right up. I thawed out my system, installed the water pump, and refilled with 50/50 antifreeze. Took a bit to thaw it out completly but I watched the temps. Now there is no coolant leaking whatsoever. Temps are fine and for some reason I'm idleing at 1500rpm once the check engine light comes on. What could it be? I know for a fact it was something coolant related. Possibly thermowax?

well.. when my cars cold, sometimes it feels like its running on one rotor. which is pretty unmistakeable. it sounds like your car running at half the rpms it should be.

Hrm... Sounds like my car, except mines got a bad coolant seal so it steam cleans itself on startup, does yours do it after sitting for about 5-10 minutes (after its warmed up and driven, and you attempt to restart it) Have you checked for bubbles/etc?

No steam. No leaks anywhere. And its fine as long as the car hasn't completely cooled down (4 hours) The cutting out only happens a couple of times. The check engine light comes on. And the car is fine.
