ENGINE CARNAGE PICTURES! also... can I re-use this oil pan?

So that's what happens when a bearing fails...

all that is copper shavings... and the engine still ran fine like that lol...

So here you can see that some of the paint is coming off the inside of the oil pan. what kind of paint is that? Can it be repainted?

Let it be known that the only reason I want to swap this oil pan onto the engine in the car is that this oil pan has a second bung next to the oil level sender for the oil thermo sensor, while the pan on the engine in my car now does not. This pan is from the motor that originally came with the car.

So I suppose a better question is.. do I really need my oil thermo sensor? and does it affect the warning buzzer for the oil level sender in some way? because after swapping engines that sucker goes off intermittently, but only after the engine is warm (for example cornering hard in either direction, flooring it to redline, and going up hills will cause it to turn off. and sometimes it turns off for no apparent reason while I'm sitting still or while I'm cruising). And yes, I have plenty of oil.

As long as the pan is really clean and has no holes in it and isn't warped, I don't see why you can't use it again.

Oil pans are probably a dime a dozen, hell I have two sitting in my garage, and I think one has an oil level sensor.

What kind of noise was this thing making?! If it ran fine like that, there had to have been some other symptoms, right?

well, I have paint, so painting it is free. however, I just want to be sure that it doesn't have some kind of special coating on the inside. will black engine enamel rated to 500 degrees work?

Also yea, that engine is sitting in my garage, I swapped in a new engine already.
the only thing it did was make this weird metal on metal squealing noise, and it was a little down on power. But it was so quiet I wasn't convinced anything was even wrong until we drained the oil and there was copper in it.
