You can't just pull stuff out of your engine bay because you don't like it...
The stock fan needs the shoud in place or it's practically useless. Look how far the fan is located from the radiator and it shouldn't be hard to work out why.
And no, you can't just remove the fan! The first time you stop the car at a set of lights it'll boil and die! The radiator must have air flowing through it at all times (even at idle) or it'll rapidly overheat. If you remove the stock clutch fan you need to replace it with an electric fan controlled by a thermoswitch.

They put stuff there for a good reason (well, most of the time anyway). The stock fan shroud kind of acts like a funnel, only reverse. It pulls air in thourgh the large opening in front, and goes through the smaller opening it the rear. This creates a higher pressure with can draw more air in through the radiator. If the fan shroud werent there, the fan would just be blowing air every-which direction, instead if pulling it through the rad. Your car may not overheat exactly, but I guarantee that your cooling system wont operate at 100% like it should. Plus it would be dangerous to have a fan spinning around in there with no shroud.

Hehe, yea I know the fan is just plastic , and Ive smacked myself on it a few times, it doesnt really hurt at all. But truthfully the real danger would be getting a peice of loose clothing or something caught in it, and wraped around it. That would be very dangerous, and could possibly injure someone pretty bad.
*picturing someone with their face getting grinded off fan because they got their T--shirt cought in it......pulling off vaccum lines trying to get the car to stall..*

Unless your using an aftermarket water temp guage, you wont notice a change on the needle. The factory guage has a large range that it considers "normal." Hence, the needle wont move unless it sees a large change in temp. You car maybe be running 10 degress hotter and youd never know it.
