engine from 5spd into car w/ auto
As the title says. I have the oppertunity to get an engine (n/a (so is the car it's going into)) (same series) only thing is I can't remember what the guy said as to the type of transmission in the car with the donor engine. What are the complications with doing this swap if any? Thanks

...94% correct.
You can't do it. The engine from the auto and the engine from the 5spd are COMPLETELY different. The bolt patterns are differnt, and the trannies won't work because the auto tranny has 3 rotors and the 5spd tranny only has 2.

Now you MIGHT be able to do it if you find another rotor...but then you'll need a new oil metering pump and pulsation damper to work shift linkage. Even then you're going to have a hard time getting it to work with the hypertension drive viscous dual rear end in the auto.

Mak, you're a dick. :p
The engines are identical. If the good engine is from a 5 speed, and the car you're putting it in is an auto, you'll need to remove the flywheel from the good engine, and put the counterweight, flexplate and torque converter from the bad engine on it. Good luck with the flywheel nuts...2 1/8 inch, and they need about 400 ft-lbs of torque to come off.
