EMS/Standalone on NA street port

I read in a somewhat current thread that a streetport would kill an EMS on an NA? I've read over and over he reasons for not going carbed. I really look forward to a nice standalone until someone mentioned it would not work well with a street port. I have run my car with a street port and stock ecu for just over 10k miles now. Idles usually just fine. Does it really make an EMS that more dificult? If itdoes I almost certainaly want to go carbed. Like I've said I have read the information on both, but I didn't see where this was answered anywhere. Thanks!

90GTU na 136k miles rebuld /w street port at 126.

I would imagine good tuning would take advantage of any porting done

These two comments were almost certainly based on a complete lack of knowledge or understading of EFI, especially aftermarket programmable EFI, and are complete BS. I can't even begin to imagine why this person thinks this is true. The whole point of programmable EFI is that it can be tuned to run practically any engine in any state of modification. Keep looking forward to getting that EMS.

If you are after best power, then the factory Maps will not give that. However the air flow meter will report higher airflow so you will get the extra air you need. Up to a point.

If you go too radical with the port timing, MAF systems will start to get confused at lower RPMs where reversion occurs or you will max out the flow capabilities of the stock system.

The usual 'rule of thumb' is that you can increase HP by about 20% before the stock system is really on its end stops. However individual mileage varies etc. You will always get more power with a ECU tuned to your engine though. You may not get better mileage or lower emissions, but you will get more power.

Hope this helps.
