Nothing. Air pump is a necessity for passing, along with the cats.

If you live in PA... Like I do, and drive your car less than 5,000 miles per year, you are exempt from emissions testing, INCLUDING the visual inspection..

what that means is, you can do whatever the hell you want as long as the odometer doesn't have 5K more miles on it than the sticker from the last inspection has on it.

Also.. if its the first time you have gotten the car inspected since it has been registered under your name, it is exempt.

I work for PA DEP and moonlight at an inspection garage.

NOW THEN.. if you put 5001 miles on that car, you had better make sure that everything LOOKS like its on there.. IE, you gotta have the airpump, EGR, Cat, etc.. now weather it works or not............
