embarrassing...
Well I had an embarrassing event take place. You guys will love this....
I was in the Burger King drive-thru with my girl and waiting for my food and my car died. Then I started it back up and it died again. So I got my food and had my girl push us forward a little(I couldn't get out because of the wall being so close to my door). Well I tried to get it started and it wouldn't start. Luckily I have a fuel cut-off switch so I just turned off the fuel and cranked it some and then turned it back on and cranked it and it started. No problems since. Pretty damn embarrasing and my girl didn't like it too much either. Any ideas what the problem is? I figure it has to do with fuel or air. More than likely fuel since it was flooded. I just never heard of a car dying like that. Could it be leaky injectors? I've never even had my car flood once. Or what about a bad fuel filter? Any ideas would be great, thanks.

Check the compression. Usually won't affect it while its running but certainly will make it hard to start. That is the worst case scenario on what the problem could be. If its low its basically time for a rebuild. BAC might not be working properly. Make sure the connector is plugged in real good. Mine came unplugged and caused me problems for days before I noticed it was unplugged. Might be a loose/leaky vacuum line.

By the way, in a pinch you can roll the car out of harm or embarrassment by sticking it in 2nd and cranking.
This assumes the clutch switch is bypassed.
(If you don't need cruise control.)

Re: Flooding problem, Im not sure this is correct but one Turbo II that I had would not start sometimes if it was real hot out. After I adjusted the mixture to full rich I never had the problem again.

Ya I wouldn't have a problem if the car just wouldn't start and was flooded. But I never heard of a car dying while it was running because if flooded. Hasn't happened since though so I dunno.

my NA did that, once and it was a bad leading coil. it just wasn't lighting off enough gas, the car would load up and stall. once I put a new one in my car was A LOT faster too.

To test for the coil get a shop manual and read. It tells you that you should see some resistance. The lower compression engines would always start crappy once the weather got warm. I cleaned and blueprinted my injectors and never had that problem again.

Also and ignition amplifier will help the car start better, and burn more fuel, which comes in handy for the lower compression TII's.. However you should fix the original problem first. It may not be the injectors, but if you have more than 100,000 miles it helps alot.
