electrical woes

so i guess i should start with that i just finished putting in a t2 complete drive line. i switched everything from engine to half shafts and ecu. but while i was attaching the battery leads i hooked the started solonoid up wrong. when i did hook up the battery the started just spun and i heard a relay in the front right of the engine bay go off.

after that the battery arced and i then looked up how to hook up the starter properly. now my ignition wont work. my dash is still in pieces but when i open the door the lights come one and the car beeps to tell me the door is open.

when i put the key in and turn it i dont get power to anything that should have power. no dash no idiot cluster.

the battery leads are on right and all of the fuses are good, and everything is making a connection. i put a multimeter up to the fuse box and the middle 2 rows of fuses are not getting any power.

also i dont know if this will do anything but the wires to the back of the tranny are not hooked up because the po hacked them up.

i assume that some wire between the ignition and battery got burnt out. does anyone know where the problem could be???

thanks
joe

Are you certain that the Main fuse is good. It powers the Ignition switch and causes things like the wipers and turn signals to work w/key to on. And your car is an S5?

yes i am sure it is not the main fuse, i checked the fuse and it does not look blown, even tested it with a meter.

also it is an s5. the body is a 1989 gxl with a 1989 turbo 2 motor in it. with wiring harness.

When you tested the Main fuse are you sure you measured the outbound side (Black/White wire) as opposed to the inbound side (Black wire). The inbound wire would always have voltage as it comes from the battery while the outbound wire comes from the Main fuse that is powered by the inbound wire.

Possibly burnt up the single black wire connector near the inbd side of the engine bay fuse box. The single black wire that feeds the ignition switch.

The single black wire that feeds most of the interior fuse box when the key is put to ON or better.

It's a single wire connector.

It has one black wire in one half of the plug and another black wire in the other half of that plug.

This plug is located about threee inches below and inboard of the engine bay fuse box.

If one has a meter he can prove that's the problem. Pull the ignition switch plugs apart. One plug has a BLACK wire and BLACK/WHITE wire in it. The pure BLACK should have batt voltage on it. If not, then the connector near the engine bay fuse box is apart/broke/burnt up.
