Electrical system failure.

Driving down road today car suddenly dies. No power no no tach nothing. Push clutch in and try and pop it wile costin in highway to jump start it and nothing. Pull over turn key car cranks right over. Drive away same thing. Crank it and it runs then it was fine all day.

Should I be looking at a failed ignition unit in the stearing locking mechanism? Or somewhere ells?

Thank you HAILERS. When I hear that I am thinking of the round plastic pice with all the wires solderd onto it that bolts to the side of the stearing lock unit.

Is that right? If not where is the switch?

As of right now i'm having the same problem but the car lights, power just went out slowly. until the car turn off. i had barely any power to the battery. i needed a jump from my friends car to start the car. I change the alternator thinking that was the problem but it happen again about 4 days later going back to work in the morning (6am). it's only happen twice and both time it was in the morning going to work. It's kind of dark so i turn on the headlight switch. between the time that it first happen and last happen I've been driving in day light. So i was thinking that it only happen when i turn on the headlights

what do you think is the problem?
could it be a bad ingition problem?

Sounds like a bad alt... what is the voltage when this is happening??? Sounds like the car is just running on the battery, and not the alternator

if it was the switch, the lights would not go out or dim radical amounts.

thanks going to buy a new alternator this weekend and see if it works but the alternator that have have on now was working on my friend car. i aslo just change the engine fuse and the lighting in the car is better than before. i think that the fuse i had on before wasnt making good enough ground connect. because before i would have to shake the fuse while it connected to the fuse box for the lights in the car would turn on. then i could start the car. but now with the new fuse i don't have to do that anymore. would that of cause the power to go out like how i explain.

well if your main fuse was loose (it is bolted in) you could have the same problems
