Electrical question
Hey guys, got a question. I unplugged my stock water temp sensor. So now my stock gauge dont work. Is there anyway I can get it to work again. It doesnt have to read correctly. I just want it to read like normal everytime. Can I just plug a resistor into it? My friend told me to stick one end of the resistor into the plug, and ground the other side. Is that the right way

big-one, you may not even have to glue it, you could just turn it so that in it's parked position it sits halfway, unless you want it to flip up there when you turn the key, but what would the use of any of this be?

He has an aftermarket temperature gauge.
He screwed the sensor into the stock mounting hole.
Why he wants it to read anything, I don't know....

Well, since you put it that way, go to RadioShack and get a 100ohm resistor. Attach it to the connector that goes to the gauge. The other end should go to a good ground. That should get you somewhere in between C and H. If it reads higher than where you want it after doing the above, add an additional 25ohm resistor. And if it reads lower than where you want it to read.........
Why not have BOTH of them working?
Just scre the stock sensor into another part of the cooling system.
OR see what the readings are if you tap both guages into the same wire.
Why defeat somthing, just add the guage.
I vote to enable BOTH.
It just looks better, and doesnt indicate that you "hacked" the stock indicator.
This way if your aftermarket guage fails or reads wrong or sticks, you still have the stock one to look at.

If you paint your windshield black you'll save money on Windex cuz you'll never need to clean it again (what, are all the bug guts and bird ca-ca going to make it harder to see?) and you can tell you friends how cool you are cuz you only drive at 'night.' With sunglasses on. While drinking a Slurpee.
