My favorite: Check your ENGINE fuse in the interior of the car. No fuse, no worky. Number two, see if you have 4-5vdc on the brown wire with a white stripe on the boost/pressure sensor. No ref voltage means the ECU won't fire the ignitors.

This assumes you have all the connectors on the ECU already and no connectors off the ECU or any where else.

It helps to have a spare CAS. CAS do NOT go bad but if you have a spare you can connect it to the harness and spin its gear with your fingers, key to ON, and the injectors should click and the sparkplugs fire. The advantage to doing this is the starter does not have to be turned over, which pulls the battery voltgage down and wears both the starter and engine out. It will confirm whether the spark is ther and if the injectors are working by the audible clicking of the primary injectors.

Everyone should have a digital meter and be able to check to see if they have 12vdc on the black/yellow wire on the white, two socket connector on the Lead coil assy. No voltage equals a blown engine fuse or EGI INJECTOR fuse.
Everyone with a S4 should be able to check for 12vdc on the small plug of the ECU, on pins 3I and 3J for battery voltage and 12vdc from the Main relay.

Coils and their ignitors don't go bad unless someone puts the single bullet connector on them to ground. Coil assy have to be attached to the chassis to work. Not some super duper extra ground wire, just bolted with at least one of the four nuts that hold them on the chassis.

Was the car ever running? How did it stop running; died while driving, wouldn't start one morning, sometimes would start after numerous tries - please be more specific in your symptoms. ~rich

Thanks for the info guys - Hailers, you're always a great deal of help. It turns out the AFM was a acting little screwy and after monkeying with it a bit I have spark again, and my car is running.

Frankly speaking, I've no idea why the afm effects the spark. I just saw that being given as a cause for someone elses car not starting in a number of other posts and just threw that in. I suppose somehow the afm must be killing/dragging down the ref voltage that the ECU uses to trigger the coils/ignitors. I've never experienced that myself, just thru hearsay.
