Blue smoke, then its ok?

I was driving my car earlier...i stomped on it in 1st gear all the way up to 6000 shift, 2nd up to 5000 shift, then off...i looked back and i was blowing out some blue smoke...as soon as i got off the gas and threw it into 5th gear, it stopped...then i dropped to 2nd gear and stomped it again...nothing. I just changed the oil yesterday and i think i put about a quarter of a quart too much oil in it...the oil gauge is reading higher than usual too...it normally is at about 40psi at idle, its around 50 now... i've stomped a few times after that, and it doesn't feel any different, and it doesn't smoke...this isn't the first time it's done it..but the last time was also from a 1st gear roll...but it looked external, like the oil came out from the motor somewhere and it hit the exhaust then just cooked against the car...now the car's got now cat, but it was the same situation...my EGTs were about 650c

Blue Smoke = Running Rich. I know from experience. My car notoriously runs rich. Gah. Need an SAFC...

Oil control rings... although it might be something less severe.

This happens to mine, which is a 1990 n/a GTU, as well usually when warming up, or when decelerating for an extended period in second gear. For the record I believe it is 4.7 quarts to fill an s5 n/a, check the FSM on your model for exacts.
