Dosen't seem like the starter is the problem the car starts up just by showing the key !! Maybe it's the Alternater? I'll do a serch for that
BTW: I think a option search by symptoms would be cool?

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Bad grounds, bad alt, bad alt connections, loose fuse box connections, bad ignition switch, all would fall under your descriptions.
Perhaps if you pin point exactly what happened when you did what or can duplicate the problem we could be more help.

These cars are old enough now to need a thorough electrical system tune-up. Verify conditon of all cables, when in doubt replace. Remove and clean all grounds, coat with Dieelectric grease on reassembly. Verify the ground wire from the top of the tranny to the spade connector on the firewall is attached.

It happened after I did a very hard brake!! Some A.H. cut me off and almost crashed!!! Then instrument panel lights start blinking and voltage going up/down...WTF!!! Could it be that the alt. broke down afterwards?

i have a similar problem, but no power loss. all of the lights came on the other night while i was just cruising home, and this morning i noticed my volt gauge was alot lower than usual. i just replaced my battery too. anyone know what the deal is? possibly a short in the ignition switch? any help would be great.
