Electrical Power Issues...

I have standard week electrical issues, how can I improve this? I have a s4, can I put on a s5 alt? maybe a FD alt? And what else do I change with this stuff?

what equipment have you added that has increased your load to the point of a weak electrical system?

Or is it you just have a 20 year old alternator, that is finally dieing?

Clean up the main grounds would probably be the first step.

I've never seen good voltage on an S4, with rebuilt alternators, 3 different alternetors/cars. All of the S5s I've seen are fine though. Is this because the regulator wasn't replaced from the place that rebuilt it or is it a problem with the wiring going to the back of the alternator. I tried Wiring larger ground and charging wires, to the battery, just to see if it made any difference, and it only changed by .1 volts.

This question must've been covered a dozen times in the last couple of months...

The only difference between a S4 and a S5 alt is 10 amps peak.

REBUILT ALTERNATORS ARE CRAP. Buy only remanufactured alternators. Stay away from the crappy auto zone rebuilds, that half of which never got rebuilt correctly in the first place.

For a stock or near stock car, there is no reason to use a larger alt that is going to draw away more HP. Buy a Remanufactured alt, not a rebuilt one....two different things.

So what's the difference? Over here they means basically the same thing. You replace all the replaceable bits.

Here, in the states, a rebuilt alt, is an alt that had anything broken replaced and a remanufactured alt returns it as new with anything that can fail replaced.

What are the issues?

Have you checked the basic stuff like 20 year old grounds?

A new alt or battery won't do a thing if your grounds are ****. Since your grounds are rusted, clean then up forst as per Aaron's website and then see if you still don't have enough power.
