EGR valve

My friend got an ebay exhaust for his FC and he said. when he put on the exhaust they disconected the egr line or whatever. and he said it ran like crap. why the hell does it run like crap? he thought he knew what he was doing. "it should run fine without egr" but i told him he should look into it. now why is it runnin bad? i thought i would do a little research for his dumbass. but i couldn't find it anywhere. so i decided to post this annoying thread that has been covered probably a million times. but any help would be appreciated.

well if he just unplugged vac lines there would naturally be a vacuum leak, never good for any motor. search EGR blockoff or emissions removal

Are you referring to the split air pipe? The EGR line is nowhere near the exhaust system. At least, no accessible parts of it are.

What year car? Turbo? More information is needed...

just block it off, then you wont have problems with flooding. Thats what i did. the only bad thingis, you'll lose some gas mileage because the gas wont recurculate.

His profile says GXL. The valve is on the center iron.

EGR is a emissions device that reduces NOx.

Engine speed has to be b/t 1700rpm and 3600 rpm.

Intake manifold pressure below 659 mmhg except for deceleration.

That's copied from the free online training manual.

Personally I find it difficult to get the EGR energized in any other gear than fifth gear on the hwy at a steady speed. I've seen it energized in other gears but you have to really work at it to energize it in lower gears.
