ok a bit of back story..
i sent out my ecu to Digital tuning to get the rtek mod done to it. they shipped it back via ups and ups lost the darn ecu. currently pending investigation on its location..
if worse comes to worse and i need to get another ecu i was told by digitaltuning rep that N374 and N370 are essentially the same going to be the same after the mod. is this true? my ecu is the n370 which is harder to find and $300 as apposed to the N374 which is a lot cheaper and easier to find.
so just to clarify. if i get a n374 ecu and get that modded would i have any issues?
i have 89 s5 t2
thanks.

Damn that sucks the 370 got lost. You'll get mixed answers, but in my experience the N374 worked just fine. I did a T2 swap on my old 91 coupe using a N374 with no issues. I also ran an N374 on my T2 swapped first gen for close to 10k miles with no issues either. I'm currently running an Rtek'd N370 but that was only because i happened to find a 370.
The only thing you won't get with the Rtek on the 374 is the programmable output since that pin doesn't exist on the 374 ecu.
Cliff note answer: In my opinion you will be fine with the 374

If RTEK says that the Ecu's are going to be the same, why would you ask anyone here that doesn't even build them?
Phone MIKE and ask him..he will give you the 100% scoop.

i just wasnt sure if it would work. i mean just because he said it would doesn't mean squat to me unless i can confirm the information. there is alot of bad info out there and i dont want waste my time or money and risk ruining my fc. but i have already ordered another ecu so i hope this all goes well
thanks again

he did offer to to mod the replacement for free though.

Is he going after UPS for any of the value or leaving it up to you? I understand it isn't entirely his faut, but it is the responsibility of the business to get you the product you paid for. If the package is insured, UPS needs to pay you.

Ok so Mike at Rtek is going to get my insurance money from UPS.. and he will re modd an ecu i purchase to replace it for free. that's the good news.
the bad news. i stupidly ordered a n374 ecu from ebay and popped it in my 89 s5 turbo. now the car wont start. i don't think its getting spark. the plugs were full of gas so i know im getting fuel. de flooding does nothing. the engine just cranks and cranks.
the ecu has something on the side of it that i thought was odd. and the discription said this. "Up for grabs is a JDM S5 FC3S RX7 Turbo N374 ECU. This ECU is in good working condition and was pulled from a low mileage engine set in favor of a Haltech E6X Standalone."
i thought maybe it would still run even though i didnt have the haltech
here is a pic of this attached thing to the ecu.. what is that? is this why the car wont start? is there a way to test that this ecu is working? do i need to plug something into that thing on the side to get it running?

alright. so after some searching, the black box on the side is a knock sensor i think?
i still cant get the car the start up. the plugs are always soaked with fuel, it just cranks over.. after a deflood session it will every so slightly try to kick over. i am still suspecting i have no spark or perhaps plugs are just completely fouled? should i get news ones and try again. i know my compression is good.
this is so odd. all i did was replace the water pump gasket and housing gasket and put it back to gether. granted the car sat for about 1 week or so but i had it drained of coolant. replaced the gaskets and tested coolant system for leaks and it held very well at 15psi. i go to plug everything back in tighten belts re check plugs everything seems to be in the right spot. i even took pictures to make sure it was all there. what am i missing?

well, mike (rtek) explained that he dropped off the package at a ups retailer and had given me a tracking number. so once it was in ups hands its not really his fault which is understandable. i personally would have prefered he paid for another but they arent that expensive so i bit the bullet. generally packages are insured for about $100.
he did offer to to mod the replacement for free though.
