ecu check
To see if the ECU comes up and runs ok, find a green 6-pin connector near the leading coils. It will only have 4 pins in it. Connect a voltmeter, test light, led or anything capable of showing 12V between the pin right under the tab (middle top of connector) to any other pin. Have a friend turn on the ignition. You should see 12V (or the light/led light) for 3 seconds, then shut off. If you connected the device to any of the left hand pins, it my start turning on and off, which means it is blinking an error code at you, after being on for 3 seconds, but it still indicates the ECU is working. However, that does not indicate that the ECU does not have any blown drivers or receivers, it just indicates that the ECU is "thinking" (computing), so it is just a starting point. Good luck!

that pic is your power steering control unit. I know this because mine was going beeeeeeeeeeeeep. About drove me insane. I removed my power steering pump and I guess it was trying to still talk to it, but freaked out becuase it wasn't there anymore.
BILLY, its the port for pulling ECU trouble shooting codes. Go to http://home.rmci.net/panther/ecu_codes.htm You can build one for under five bucks easy, and make it in less than thirty minutes. The codes are broken down on the above site.
