Okay, so I am having problems with my RX7 (1987) and I am thinking it's the ECU... so I go steal one off of an '85 GXL come home and go to put it in... I look to remove the one off of mine... NOT THERE. What the hell? Am I lost? Isn't the ECU on the left hand wall on the driveside? Kenn

I wonder if it would be possible for this site to host the online FSM once it gets moved to the new server. That way we don't have to refer people other sites, it can be a sticky at the top of the forum or something.

Look, this is my story. Read it if you aint got nothing better to do. I made this post because people reply faster to newer posts instead of treading threw older threads, plus other posts about ECU's or whatever are not always on the same subject or problems these other people are having.
STORY: Early september there was an RX7 meet down in Medina, OHIO and I was on my way with my newly pregnant fiancee. Just about five minutes away from the meeting location my car just chokes and turns off, WHILE I AM CRUISING IN SECONDED GEAR. So as I'm rollin' I turn the car back on and coast into a mini put-put gold place and call for help (my friend Noel. Great on rx7's). He shows up, we go get a few more people from the meet and we go back to my car to figure it out. We figured it was fuel related so we checked fuel pressure, connections, everything we can do to try figuring it out but no luck. So they clued me in to checking the injectors and resister pack. So I get the car towed back home and got to work. Put a brand new pulsation damper on, injectors and tested the resister pack (turned out perfect), so I climb into my mini red demon (rx7) and turn the key, engine turns but doesn't ignite. I have spark, spark plugs are good, alternator is good, battery is brand new and STILL it wont start up so Mazda (Ganly on Brookpark Rd.) told me I tested and got everything going good so now it's down to something electrical. They said tow it in so they can fix it. KISS MY ***. I'm not retarted just needed some direction. So my buddy Dave said it's probably the ECU and my retarted *** was mized up and went to the junk yard and took the computer for power steering. But now I know that it's located on the passenger side under a metal lip under the carpet so I cam going to take one off two or three junk yard cars and see if that's it. Oh, and for anyone who didn't know this, only use ECU's from 86-88 for only rx7's that fall within those years. So keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks... Kenn CLEVELAND OHIO

No problem man, I was just remarking on the fact that the threads concerning the location of the ECU almost NEVER come up. Now there are 2 in the past few days.
I wasnt trying to insult you.

deserves it? you got alot of nerve. you know nothing about me or my knowledge. like you knew what your car was all about and where things were located before even searching thru it. NO ONE DOES. you should be happy for someone like me even taking an interest in rotary and actually figuring things out along the way. *edited for flaming
