Cool the ebay intercooler thread

i want (and im sure other do to) to here experiences with the intercoolers that are found on ebay. i can make the tubing, i just want an inexpesive FMIC for the DD TII. Personally, i think that they should work fine. they are so wel priced, i wouldnt feel bad for trying. and they come pretty damn big.

thoughts?

Some are good, some aren't. It all depends on who makes the core really and it's dimensions, large isn't always better.

I've been looking at them too, $200 for a big intercooler doesn't seem that bad. you might see more psi drop with one of these then a nice greddy/ trust, but still they seem worth the money. You can also get a bunch of tubing and silicon connectors too.

I bought one from this guy;

http://stores.ebay.com/Extreme-Turbo...enameZL2QQtZkm

He has one for an fc that fits perfectly between the frame rails and comes with mounting tabs.
I haven't had my car running with it yet, but it looks well built. YearsOfDecay also has one, and he seems to like it.

I'm not a big fan of the square welded end tanks. Most local radiator shops can make intercoolers to spec for about the same cost or less. I've had a greddy knock-off using almost identical end-tanks for around $250 quoted.

incendui: where are you at in Boston? I've yet to see an FC since I've got back here.

The one I purchased back in Dec. is really nice, I got it for like $240 shipped. It is 24.5" end tank to end tank, has 3" inlets/outles, and is 3" thick, and 12" high. Its a bar/fin design, but was well worth the money in my opinion. A good friend of mine also purcased his off of ebay a few months before me, its slightly larger, but has served him well thus far. If you can make the tubing yourself, why not go for it and save some $$?

I live on Mission Hill. If you see a dented blue NA or a black TII, that's me.

And heres some pictures of my intercooler;

Thought this would be the best place to post this without starting a new thread.

I plan on purchasing a Starion Intercooler for my FMIC. For those of you that have taken your car to an exhaust shop and had them make your piping for you, how much did it cost, roughly? I don't have access to a mandrel bender or other pipe-fabbing tools, and I'm putting together a list of things I need to get and their costs, I'm trying to budget this.

Please post how much you were charged for I/C pipes, along with where it was done. It shouldn't be dependant on the intercooler, but I posted my planned I/C just in case. Thanks in advance.

I know this guy, lives about 15 min from me. Great guy, knows his stuff and has a lot of very nice cars at the shop to back it all up. He has done some of the most creative IC setups I have ever seen.
