I have an 8lb one on my FD, it is awesome. I wouldn't bother with an ebay one though.

While I'm not using one and don't have any plans to, I do have to ask, has anyone here had any direct experience with one failing? I keep seeing people say they are bad and not to use them since they are cheap and on ebay but has anyone actually truly had a bad experience with one or is this all just a bunch of opinion? I suspect I know the answer.

i have had a friend with a racingbeat 17lb flywheel on his 87t2 and it was great...we did a clutch 35k after the flywheel install with no cracks or surface issues...i personally have had 2 of the 13lb act flywheels with no problems and my track t2 had the 9lb flywheel...i never took the 9lb appart because i hit a wall soon after i put it. i would say the 9lb flywheel would suck on the street you would never want it. the 13lb one was great never had an issue. have one in the car now as you can tell in my sig i have just pulled motor and i seperated the tranny from motor and after 20k of driving there is no issues

You have a good point. It is possible this flywheel will work for anyone who wants a new flywheel. As long as it is built to spec and made from good metal I see no reason why this would be inferior to other products out there (unless they reduced material in the critical areas).

The OP or anyone interested should try it out and get back to us after using it for a while. I am always up for new products, especially ones that offer the same performance for a lower price than the competitors for the same performance. (Not sure of the price of the F1 compared to others, but if it is really cheap, go for it. Otherwise if it is just a few bucks cheaper than say racing beat ect., I would go with a good known manufacturer, personally).

I haven't tried one, but it is made with 6061 T6 aluminum and Grade 8 bolts, it meets SFI 1.1 standards, and the company is based in California, so I don't see any reason to run and hide from that product.

I am not sure if many forum members would actually want a light aluminum flywheel in their car, but that is another story.

Exactly my point, I saw that just now searching ebay. Seems like anyone interested in one should have to reason not to get this...

I would say 99% of the people here never had any of these "ebay specials"

I dont mind to buy ebay specials, but ... Flywheel is not something that I want to "try and see if its good", forget about the weight, Im just afraid it might fly out and take my leg (or life) with it. For these stuff, I rather pay more to a "trust worthy" company (even it doesnt kill me, I just dont want to install it, then find out it suck *****, And have to take it back out for something else.)

just my 0.02 ...

I have as well as a friend have used F1 clutches many times and they are a great better than stock upgrade for a good price. I would not be affraid to try their flywheels, Espescially the chromoly one they offer.

Just because they are cheaper than ACT doesnt mean they are junk.

A flywheel imo would not be a thing I would cheap out on. Sure the ebay one might never give you issues, but I'd stick with a reputable brand name personally...

Here's a flywheel explosion for you... scary ****.

No!!! Don't risk it!

Not to mention the CRX was a FWD. Imagine how handicapped you would be if a flywheel exploded in one of our cars.

Just so you know, those flywheels in a drag car are put under alot of heat stress. The Ebay flywheel is made to specific standards and they seem to have a good product. Other users here have one and they don't have any problems with it.

Videos like these just add to the culture of fear we live in... Any flywheel CAN explode, READ the racing beat precautions on their website. EVEN THEY clearly state their flywheels can EXPLODE.... Anyone else who has no experience with these directly needs to stop knocking products that others have no problems with and that they personally have never used.

I bet most of the people complaining saying don't buy the product are the same people who complain when they need to spend lots of $$$ on a product. Competition is great, it helps keep others in check and prices lower and better products come out due to it.

You guys will be surprised to know where some of your "name brand" products actually come from... Not going to name any companies, but if you pay close attention you will see what I am talking about...

What he said^^ Some use the comment chinese junk, whos to say that Name brand isnt made in china?

The only flywheels I have heard to explode are the ones that are not one piece. The F1 chromoly one is billet, meaning one piece of material, not many pieces like the aluminum ones...

I stand firm at I would not be affraid to try the Chromoly flywheel they offer.

I got a Fidanza FW for my rx-8 and its multi piece, so far no problems (I hope I will never have one)

If I didn't had that great deal for the Fidanza back then. I would've got a Chromoly 1 piece FW, like Mazdaspeed or something.

I will get a new FW for my FC soon and I will pick the 1 piece over multi piece.
