Cold start assist. Remove it...Yank it out. Cuss at it.. Throw it on the ground and stomp on it.

J-Rat, you seem awfully angry at parts that are not completely necessary in our cars. Let me know if you need to talk about something. j/k

Yeah, especially in Canada. It might clean your engine bay up, and cause your car to run better.

I searched for "reservoir" (your word) in the 2nd Gen section and found several posts just on the first page that answered your question, complete with pics.

That SUBZERO start sys was addressed in a factory service bulletin. Suggested removing it. Factory service bulletins available at ALLDATA.COM, money required for access to the info.

In a respectful manner......It's the SUB-ZERO STARTING ASSIST DEVICE (except for California). And the bugger was suggested to be REMOVED by a service bulletin. It held a starting fluid. It injected that starting fluid into the intake thru the starting fluid valve IF the temperature was below 4-10.4 degrees F. I love that point four on the 10.4. If it's 10.5 it won't work. Try it out this winter.

The fluid was 90% ethylene glycol antifreeze fluid and 10% wasser. There was/is a oil thermo sensor on the bottom left side of the pan meant for this device. It's near the oil level sensor.

The Cold Start System is another fish altogether.

Those with turbos could rewire it for water injection.
(That's 50% ethanol solution)
Rig it through a switch to come on at WOT & it will pull your EGT right back down.
(more boost with no knock)
Of course you would need a better injector & location..
Hmm..

Just squirting water into the intake will do nothing. Water injection only works if you spray the water in a very fine mist. You need a proper atomising nozzle and a high-pressure pump.
