i think that the T2's have 2 drain plugs on the tranny's,
and the n/a's only have one drain plug.

I've got no clue as to the rear end Q

the turbo tranny looks completely different, its all ribbed and beefy looking. also, the n/a bellhousing has these ridges that sort of twist around it, the TII one doesnt. the TII rear end is much bigger, has an 8" ring gear instead of a 7".

The Turbo trans has 3 drain/fill plugs on the left side, the N/A has only 2.

Have someone measure the bolt to bolt hole distance on the pinion flange. When it warms up later today, I can measure the Turbo diff I have in the garage. Just don't feel like walking 100' in snow to get to the garage right now, but I will do it later if no one responds.

TII tranny is heavy. A N/A tranny is easy to carry.

7 answers and not one that had the simple way.

The Turbo tranny's have a big access plate on them simular to a flat oil pan. It's bellhousing is also a seperate piece bolted onto the main section of the tranny.

Non turbo trannys do not have the access panel and the bellhousing and tranny is all one peice

I thought pretty simple if you can count to 1, 2, 3 plugs.

The flange on the TII center to center bolt holes 2.875" or 2 7/8". The measuement is adjacent holes and not opposite holes.

Hope this helps until a more simplified response comes along.

Look at the VIN.

a vin with JM1FC332XXXXXX is turbo.

a vin with JM1FC333XXXXXX is non-turbo.

That was painless

my bad...

331 is non-turbo.

There may be a difference between series, my numbers were for an S4. Either that or my memory is going the way of the dinosaurs!
