easiest way to drop .... everything

Taking everything (engine, flywheel, clutch, tranny, rear end, engine harness, gauge cluster... and so on) from an 88 t2 to my 88 gtu. I have the exhaust off and unbolted a few things in the rear, (shocks and the 2 bolts holding the LSD up) but I dont see any super easy way to get the rear off. I know how to take an engine out (done it over 6 times now) but the rear seems to be a little more complex for me. Any hints/tips?

Thanks

when you drop the rear dont forget to unbolt the vertical link that is right by the diff, dont ask how i know. and yes it is way easyer to drop the whole subframe then just trying to drop the diff by it self. i would like to know why you are swaping the gauge cluster, if it is for a boost gauge i would consider buying a good gauge (autometer phantom is my choice) i wouldnt trust one of the most important readings to a crap stock gauge, just something to think about.

My stock oil pressure gauge is messed up. :P But thanks. Anybody have a picture of the subframe and what bolts to take off? Is it just the main 4 or what?

stock oil pressure gauges are not that great anyway. They are better than some cars I've seen, but they are not very responsive.

yep as said, you need to drop the subframe. you dont have to remove it completly.. just almost all the way down.. its a bitch... shouldnt take more than a couple hours by yourself with hand tools

We pulled the rear out pretty quick. The whole assembly unbolts, and it's not that big of a job. Just grab a buddy and make it way easier.
